1. What are the “natural
flavors” in Wateroos flavored drinks?
We get asked this question a lot. Here’s the official description
from the Food and Drug Administration in the Code of Federal Regulations
[21 CFR 101.22(3)]:
The term "natural flavor" or "natural flavoring" means
the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein
hydrolysate,
distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis,
which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice,
fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast,
herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood,
poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof,
whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.
That clears things up, right? OK, here’s our take on it.
The natural flavors used in Wateroos are derived primarily from
fruits. To create a natural fruit flavor, first you take the fruit and boil out everything but the crucial ingredients.
What's left is a concentrated extract or what can be referred to as "natural flavoring." We then take a blend of different fruit flavorings to create our great-tasting flavored waters.
If we told you the exact formula, well then we’d
have to… you know the drill.

2. Are there any allergens present in Wateroos?
We manufacture Wateroos in a plant free of gluten (wheat, barley, rye, oats), dairy (casein, lactose,
whey), peanuts, tree nuts, egg, potato, rice, sesame, or yeast. In addition, our dedicated line has
NO soy protein, soy lecithin, soy oil, fish, or shellfish. Wateroos is made on a line shared with
other products that may contain corn, sugar, onion, garlic, and sulfites (potential trace amounts
in juices used on same line). Wateroos is also free of
MSG and GMOs.
If your child has ANY type of berry allergy, we don't recommend
our Berry Wateroos. Our Apple and Grape flavors only contain
derivatives of those actual fruits.

3. Can you send me
some samples?
While we would love to be able to send samples to everyone that
requests them, we're very sorry but it's not something we are able to do at this time.
But if you sign up for our Wateroo-liNews
email newsletter you can be the first to receive special
offers from us when they are available.

4. Where can I buy Wateroos?
While we try to maintain an updated list of retailers on the Where to Buy page
of our website, we don't always know every retailer that carries
Wateroos (sounds crazy, I know!). It's always good to check with your local
store
first. And if they don't carry Wateroos, you can
click here to print out a
flyer
to bring to your
market to let them know that you want them to carry Wateroos!
You can also buy Wateroos online by clicking
here.

5. Is there any sugar in Wateroos?
No way. We were able to find just the right blend of natural flavors
(see above) to make Wateroos taste great without having to add
any sugar or other artificial sweeteners. To read more about
water, juice, and kids' health, visit the Why
Choose Wateroos page.

6. Does Wateroos contain
fluoride?
None of our Wateroos drink boxes contain any fluoride.

7. Is Wateroos
Kosher certified?
Wateroos is not currently Kosher certified. So you
might want to consider serving your children our unflavored
Wateroos (the one with the Penguin on it).

8. Can I recycle my
empty Wateroos drink boxes?
If you can recycle gable-top cartons (e.g. milk and OJ containers) at your curbside,
then you can likely recycle Wateroos drink boxes with them. To see
if your town offers curbside drink box recycling please click
here and to learn more about our drink box packaging visit www.aseptic.org.

9. Can I freeze
Wateroos and use it as an ice-pack for my child’s lunchbox?
Absolutely. And when frozen, it’s also a big help in making those bumps
and bruises feel better or to ease your aching head after a long day at the park.

10. What is Purified Water?
Well, it’s the same type of water found in many adult bottled water brands
that are labeled “purified drinking water” (good examples are Aquafina & Dasani).
The technical answer is that the water in Wateroos 100% Purified Water has gone through a reverse osmosis filtering process
after which it contains
less than 10 parts per million of total dissolved solids, i.e., minerals. In
other words, the water is put through lots and lots of filters in order to take
out almost all of the other “stuff” leaving behind just clean, fresh-tasting
water.

11. How did you come up with the idea for Wateroos?
To read all about it, please visit the Our
Story page.

12. Can I store Wateroos for emergency preparedness?
Yes. All Wateroos products have a retail shelf life of 2 years but Original Wateroos
100% Purified Water has the ability to last up to 5 years. Juices and other beverages
which have other components (substrates) in them will naturally break down over
time. Original Wateroos has no substrates; its just pure water so it can last
a long time. And please remember that water in plastic bottles can only last
a few months since it is neither airtight nor resistant to light which can lead
to bacterial growth.

13. Is the drink box packaging used by Wateroos considered
sustainable?
There are several elements that make the drink box package used for Wateroos
one of the most environmentally responsible beverage packages on the market
today:
--- Optimizing material, energy & cost. A sustainable
package weighs as little as possible making it cost and energy efficient for
manufacturing, shipping, and storing. A typical single-serve drink box provides a product-to-packaging ratio that is 96
percent beverage to only 4 percent packaging by weight vs. other beverage
packaging which can weigh up to 20% of the total weight of the product. This
package also uses far less energy to manufacture, fill, ship, and store
products than virtually any comparable package. And because the packaging is lightweight,
we can deliver more product per truck than competitive packages. This means
fewer trucks, less fuel, lower cost and less pollution in transport.
--- Renewable resource. A sustainable package is made from a
renewable resource that can be replenished and can last indefinitely.
Unlike cans and bottles, Wateroos packaging
is made of paperboard, a completely renewable and stable resource.
-- Recycling. A sustainable package is a recyclable package. Wateroos drink boxes, along
with milk and juice cartons, are recycled through a simple, well-established
process called hydra-pulping. The high-quality fiber is used in the production
of paper products such as tissue and paper towels and fine writing paper. In
some cases the plastic/foil residual is being recycled into high-end plastic
lumber products.
